Jacki S. Imbrey CLU®, ChFC®, RICP®,
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERprofessional

Partner

If I had to pinpoint one driving force in my career it would be the desire to help people help themselves by making good financial decisions. One might argue that financial planning is not as noble a career as being a doctor or nurse, but I think it’s a very important aspect of most people’s lives. I find the work I do to be immensely rewarding and worthwhile in many ways, having developed many true friendships with clients along the way.

It’s not as rare as it once was to be a woman in a primarily male dominated field, but in some ways I think it has made me a better person and advisor. I could not have succeeded without being analytical, but I believe my best attributes are the ability to listen and be empathetic, while still motivating people to make sometimes difficult, but correct choices as their "financial coach". I’m able to see the big picture and break that down into manageable tasks for myself and my clients. I think it’s important to be able to communicate a sense of enthusiasm to clients, while also being very realistic in a world of dollars and sense.

From the day I entered this business, I felt strongly that knowledge was critical to becoming a top notch advisor. I’ve made a commitment throughout my career to stay abreast of the latest products, theories and concepts in financial planning by availing myself to some of the best training available in our industry. I’ve completed several rigorous programs and attained numerous designations such as, becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, earning a Certificate in Financial Planning from the Wharton School of Business at the University of PA, and more recently earning the Retirement Income Certified Professional® designation.

Those who know me know that I love life, and I love what I do! I believe a person who has peace with their financial situation can enjoy life more. I strive to make the process of managing your finances pleasant while fostering a sense of satisfaction in that while you are working hard for your money, your money is working hard for you.

CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER are certification marks owned by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. These marks are awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements. AR Lic 480608, CA Lic 0H41623

Raised in Miami, Florida, I came to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee, with little knowledge of the area or its residents. The longer I was here, the more I loved the scenic beauty and friendly people of East Tennessee. My first jobs after college took me out of Knoxville for a few years, but then I realized how much I had enjoyed Knoxville and returned to start a retail furniture and bedding company.

While building my business, I developed many life-long friends, customers and business relationships. I have always loved interacting with people and believe that characteristic has allowed me to connect easily on a personal level, and understand people’s needs. That aspect of our business is sometimes overlooked, but I see it as the core of a good working relationship. The eleven years that I spent growing and developing my business was a good training ground for my practice today. It helped me understand the importance of customer service while also experiencing all of the challenges of running a business.

My wife and business partner, Jacki, started her financial services career several years earlier than I. Realizing the depth of the benefit to helping people that this profession offers, I decided to sell my business. Jacki has been an excellent mentor, helping me enter the financial services industry and to recognize the importance of furthering my education to assure that my clients received the very best advice. To that end, I earned the Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designations.

David H. Jeffries RICP®,

People often comment that I have a knack for taking a complex financial concept and making it easy to understand. To me, one of my primary responsibilities as a financial planner is to help my clients quantify their goals and then understand all of the options that are available to them as potential solutions. I think a good financial planner should be adept at both listening and teaching.

I’ve always enjoyed the analytical aspects of financial topics and strategies, so it’s not surprising that I ended up majoring in Finance, while receiving my degree from the University of Tennessee in 1984. Like many college graduates looking to enter the work force, I accepted the job that offered a robust compensation package, becoming a claims adjuster with a major property & casualty insurance company. I learned a lot about insurance, management and people in general, but after 15 years I felt a change was in order. I knew that working in the financial world was my true calling, so I made a deliberate choice to change careers and began the task of study and credentialing to become a financial advisor, and I’ve never looked back!

In addition to all of the initial credentialing and continuing education required by the State of Tennessee and FINRA, I have endeavored to continue to broaden my professional education at the highest level. I earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designation in 2010, followed by the Retirement Income Certified Professional® designation in 2015.

As a member of Imbrey & Associates since 2005, I’m very proud of my partnership with Richard and Jacki Imbrey. We make an excellent team, sharing the same level of integrity and zeal for education and client service. We believe that our combined skill sets, experience and work ethic make us a special planning firm with whom to do business. Our clients are the beneficiaries of our team chemistry and experience, and because of this they continue to refer their friends and relatives to us.

Though born in Ohio, I have had the privilege of living in many beautiful parts of the country including the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the coast of Maine, and even Australia for a couple of years, but I have found my home in East Tennessee. I love so much about this area, the weather, the mountains, the Vols, but most of all the people! I am grateful for the opportunity to raise my family and work every day in such a unique and special place.

Growing up in a coal mining town in rural Ohio, I learned the value of money at an early age. I saw how hard people worked for it, and how important it was to make good decisions with what you did save. It wasn't until I was older that I realized how valuable those lessons were and how inspired I was to help people make better financial decisions. I feel truly honored when I think about the trust my clients place in me, and I work every day with that in mind.

With a Business Degree from Davenport University, I entered into the financial services industry in 2008. After being in the business for several years, I realized that the world of financial planning was not only incredibly important but also increasingly complex. It was at that point I decided to continue my education and completed the curriculum to obtain the Certified Financial Planner™ professional designation. The comprehensive training and principles instilled through the CFP® program have given me a holistic approach to financial planning and decision making, which I share with my clients. Being a person who is a life-long student, I strive to learn and truly understand what is most important to my clients, and then educate them regarding their options and strategies to achieve their goals.
